Celina Valderama is a freelance journalist at SheSquad, a clickbait feminist news outlet helmed by the intimidating Irene Gamerman. Desperate for a break in her career — and with no money to pay her extortionate inner-city rent — Celina jumps at Irene’s latest assignment: reviewing a long-lost manifesto from a controversial sex guru titled 44 Sex Acts In One Week by personally experiencing and chronicling all 44 acts herself.
The catch? Celina doesn’t have a boyfriend, or a willing ex, or even enough capital to engage the services of a professional. So she’s forced to enlist the man who would normally be at the bottom of her list of desired sexual partners: Alab Delusa, SheSquad office dogsbody and aspiring wildlife documentarian.
Sure enough, what starts out as a clinical business transaction between office rivals quickly blossoms into something more. But as Celina and Alab explore their wild sides, Alab is doing some re-wilding on the side: he’s been roped into an eco-activist plot to release an endangered species of lynx back into nature, a plan with unexpected and dire consequences for all. In fact, the beginning of Celina and Alab’s steamy love affair could also spell the end of human civilisation.
